04.06.2026Experts from the National Center for Standard Samples took part in a specialized scientific and practical conference held on May 21, 2026 at the specialized expert site of Sechenov University. The event was devoted to topical issues of medicines, chemical and toxicological analysis, expert practice and modern laboratory control.
The scientific program addressed the issues of metrological support for chemical and toxicological analysis, including the role of reference samples in the identification and quantification of medicinal, psychoactive, narcotic and potent substances.
Special attention was paid to the importance of domestic reference materials for anti-doping, forensic chemical and chemical-toxicological control. "The development of our own range of reference materials is an important condition for ensuring the metrological independence of the laboratory system, increasing the reliability of analysis results and reducing dependence on imported materials," the NCSS staff notes.
During the discussion, the key stages of the development and implementation of reference materials were touched upon: the choice of material, confirmation of its authenticity, assessment of uniformity and stability, metrological assessment, documentation and registration procedures. A special emphasis was placed on the risks arising from incorrect selection or use of reference materials, including false identification, systematic bias of results, loss of metrological traceability and reduced comparability of data between laboratories.
The participation of NCSS experts in the conference allowed the professional community to present the organization's approaches to the development of the national system of reference materials and to emphasize the importance of continuous work in this area – from monitoring new substances and their metabolites to the development, certification and practical implementation of reference materials in the activities of testing and expert laboratories.
