19.11.2025The National Center of Standard Samples has announced the successful extension of the shelf life for five of its own approved reference standards to three years, following regulatory approval. This measure will significantly improve the efficiency of laboratories and pharmaceutical manufacturers conducting quality control and other research throughout the drug life cycle.
The reference standards affected by this extension include widely used positions such as Acetylcysteine, Ivabradine, Aminosalicylic acid, Magnesium sulfate, Tamsulosin. In-depth studies conducted by NCSS specialists confirmed that all specified properties of these reference standards are maintained for the entire three-year shelf life.
The company stated that this move primarily addresses the market’s needs for reference standards with a longer shelf life. As a result, the NCSS partners can be confident that the products will not expire several months after the purchase, thereby enhancing the efficiency of their quality control processes.
Moreover, unlike reference standards of European and the US Pharmacopeia (EP and USP), that often have lead times of three to six months, NCSS reference standards are supplied in the shortest time possible.
The company emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to storage and usage conditions for any reference standard regardless of its shelf life.
