NCSS Testing Laboratory Receives Precursor License

The Testing Laboratory of the National Center of Standard Samples (NCSS) has successfully passed an inspection by Roszdravnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare) and obtained a license to work with precursors of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. This event opens new horizons in quality control of pharmaceuticals.

The laboratory is now authorized to use chemical substances from List IV (Table I) of precursors, including acetic anhydride and benzaldehyde. Previously, the use of these substances was impossible without special permission, but now their use significantly expands analytical capabilities and improves accuracy.

Among the new analytical methods available to the laboratory are gas chromatography (GC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The license permits the use of controlled reagents in sample preparation, which in turn enhances the detection of even trace impurities in medications.

Furthermore, the laboratory can now use strong oxidizers and other precursors in titrimetric analysis, expanding the range of quality control methods. For example, potassium permanganate can now be used in redox titrations, improving accuracy and compliance with pharmacopeial requirements.

Thus, obtaining this license from Roszdravnadzor confirms the high level of competence of the NCSS Testing Laboratory, guaranteeing clients and partners the accuracy of all analyses, including work with controlled substances, and full compliance with legal regulations and international quality standards.
